Pestalotiopsis microspora

Introducing the newest member to Black Moon’s culture library: Pestalotiopsis microspora. It is an endophytic fungus capable of breaking down and digesting polyurethane. There is not a lot known about this fungi yet. So, myself and other mycologists have a unique opportunity to make some new discoveries.

It appears that this fungi is also a plant parasite, which does pose some concern. We have already seen that it can be acclimated easily to live on nothing but polyurethane and while in an anaerobic environment. This shows great potential for myco-restoration of one of our worst contaminants… Plastic.

As we uncover more information about this little guy, I will post updates here.
